The Knox Community Arts Centre hosts a varied program of live theatre, music, community arts and school holiday programs.
David Booth and Carla McRae rejuvinated the exterior through a mural tha wraps around the southern and eastern walls. Playful, theatrical elements alluding to the stage provide context for the building — expressive masks with cascading ribbons concealing and revealing faces, large gestural hands, musical notes and warped instruments are hidden within folds of colourful curtains and winged creatures. The colour palette was chosen for its mysterious and moody qualities, alluding to the darkness of the stage, allowing bright muted-primaries to illuminate the masks and highlight the playful gestures within the design.
